Check Your Skin Type

Today, there are many skin care products in the market for dry skin, oily skin, normal skin, etc. But how do you know which product is suitable for you? Do you know your skin type? It is not difficult to recognize your skin type, nor is it necessary to visit an expert to determine your skin type. You can check your skin type by doing a small test at home.

Wash your face with water to remove all the makeup and dirt on it. Once done, pat your face dry and wait for some time. Do not touch your skin or apply anything to it. After about an hour, use a tissue and dab your face with it. Check the oil content of the tissue and the areas which turn out to be oilier than the other areas of the face.

Once you are finished, identify your skin type based on the results.

If your skin is still smooth and not oily and dry, then your skin is of the normal type. Normal skin is the best of all types as it is less prone to skin problems like acne and eruptions. Taking care of a normal skin is easiest of all as well. Daily routine care of cleansing, moisturizing, sunscreen and cleansing before going to bed can be followed. Use products that are made for the normal skin only so that the moisture in the skin is retained. Continue with the healthy diet of fresh fruits and vegetables and sufficient fluid intake.

If your skin shows flakes of dead skin and feels tightened, then your skin is dry. Dry skin if not taken care of causes many skin problems like acne, wrinkles, etc.

If the tissue shows excess oil on it, then your skin is of oily type. Oily skin types are also prone to acne due to excess oil secretion. Oily skin care regime includes using foamy face cleansers to remove the excess oil on the face. Use an oil-free moisturizer or water-based moisturizer to control the secretion of oil on the face. Sunscreen protection, like any other skin type, is essential for oily skin as well to protect the skin from the UV rays.

If your skin is oily on the forehead, nose, and chin but dry on the other areas of the face then you have a combination skin type. This is the toughest skin type to take care of because your face has a certain area, mostly the T-zone (forehead, nose & chin) oily and rest of the area like the cheekbones is dry.
